Congratulations to the students and teachers from Lower Merion High School (LMHS), Harriton High School (HHS), Bala Cynwyd Middle School (BCMS), and Welsh Valley Middle School (WVMS), all in the Lower Merion School District, who recently returned from San Francisco where they participated in buildOn’s Global Chapter three-day conference focusing on global literacy and poverty reduction.
The students were Olivia Malloy (LMHS), Sarah McConnell (LMHS), Daseul Kim (HHS), Sinduri Soundararajan, (HHS) and Atiyah Brinkley (HHS). They were accompanied by teachers Tom Reed (LMHS), Leslie Bullitt (BCMS), and Jamie Nemec (WVMS).
The conference featured a variety of activities including workshops, speakers, discussions, and social activities, and helped to arm the students with tools to help break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty in the real world.
The students are well-prepared for their next challenge – a trek to Haiti to build another school for a community-in-need. Talk about inspirational!
