Dianne Hitchens is an exceptional special education teacher and the focus of this week’s #TeacherTuesday. This Life Skills Support teacher works with ninth through eleventh grade students at Hatboro-Horsham Senior High School, taking on additional responsibilities over and above her teaching schedule.
“I knew I wanted to be a special education teacher from a very young age,” says Dianne. “My Uncle Bill had Down Syndrome and lived with my family for much of my life. He is the first person who inspired me to become a teacher, and after 28 years, I continue to be inspired by my students every day.”
Dianne is shown in this photo below with her super colleague, Tammy Norris, in the May 2016 Lower Montgomery Special Olympics Track Meet hosted by the Hatboro-Horsham Senior High School. The event co-directors are pictured in the orange shirts. Dianne can be seen on the right wearing a white baseball cap, and Tammy on the left. Supporting the student athletes in red are the awesome HHHS student volunteers wearing blue.
