Michener Art Museum Open House to Welcome PSEA/MER Members & Administrators Oct. 13

In celebration of a new collaboration, public school teachers who are members of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, Mideastern Region (PSEA/MER), and school administrators, are invited to be guests of the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown at a special open house planned for the evening of Thursday, October 13.

PSEA members who attend the open house will be able to earn professional continuing education hours granted by PSEA; up to 2 1/2 hours towards the Act 48 requirement for public school teachers. The event will include guided tours of the museum, light refreshments, and opportunities to learn more about resources and programs for elementary, middle and high school teachers. It will also include a special gallery talk by Curatorial Fellow in Photography & New Media, Kelsey Halliday Johnson, on Unguarded, Untold, Iconic: Afghanistan Through the Lens of Steve McCurry, named one of 12 “must-see” summer exhibitions by USA Today.

Attendees will learn about onsite and offsite school programs and how they support national, state and Common Core standards, along with STEAM, in education. Through the evening’s program, teachers and administrators will explore how to make curriculum connections with the Michener’s permanent collection and special exhibitions.
